Performance Trad Climbing
Course Details:
So you’re a solid trad climber but you sometimes get scared, you’re not aways sure how safe you are, and you want to break through the e-grades? We’re aiming to give you a solid understanding of the safety systems involved in trad climbing and what happens to them when you fall off. Fundamentally, if you’re going to push your trad climbing to the limit, you need to know that you’re safe. That’s what this course is all about; being safe, knowing you’re safe and then being able to go for it above gear!
It might sound strange but trad routes often actually get safer as they get harder (e2 – e4 is in our experience generally the safest grade; clean vertical walls with sinker gear, at least here in North Wales). If you want to break in to the E grades then sign yourself up. They’re within everyones reach and a rough translation from Sport to e1 or e2 is F6a-6b! Come and learn how to:
- Break in to the Extreme grades (e1, e2 etc)
- Choose clip up routes (e.g safe ones!)
- Stop gear pulling/ unzipping
- Hold trad falls
- Evaluate the overall safety situation
- Movement & efficiency coaching
- Mental coaching aka Fear of Falling
- Combination of instruction underpinned with coaching
