Intro to Sport Climbing
One of our most popular courses. If you’ve climbed indoors and you’d like to progress to climbing outside on real rock, then our Intro to Sport course is what you need. There are some basic things you need to know to keep yourself safe; good belaying, how to rethread the lower-off, building a top-rope setup, getting off a route you can’t climb. Once you’re done, you’ll be ready to go exploring!
Learn to Lead – Sport Climbing
This is similar to our Intro to Sport Climbing course but it’s a bit more advanced. We’ll be looking specifically at leading routes, falling off, aiding hard sections, threading different lower-offs etc. We’ll cover all these basics plus we’ll look at some movement coaching and go through some of mental aspects of sport climbing. After this course you should be ready to go sport climbing anywhere in the world! With so much amazing climbing in France, Spain, Greece etc (winter sun!) you’ll have all the options.
Multi-pitch Sport Climbing
Multi-pitch sport climbing is actually more committing than you might imagine! We’ll go through crucial techniques like how to attach to the anchor, bringing up a second, aiding through a section you can’t climb and multi-pitch abseil descents. If you’re planning an adventurous climbing trip to Europe / abroad then it’s worth running through the techniques you need. There’s some amazing mountain multi-pitch routes out there with something for everyone from alpine F4 adventures to wild F7/8 big walls!
Performance Sport Coaching
One of our favourites! Many people think that in order to push their sport climbing they just need a training plan to get stronger. Being strong is certainly helpful but its only a small part of the big picture and most people that get plans don’t see the improvements on the rock that they’re expecting. It’s easy to measure strength, it’s harder to measure everything else! Can you move well? Do you know how to rest efficiently? Do you climb without limits or are you always worried about where/ how to clip the next bolt? There are a huge number of techniques you can use to push your sport climbing to the next level, added together they’ll often eclipse strength gains.
Falling & Mental Coaching Course
One thing we see time and time again is people being held back by fear. This could be a fear of falling, a fear of the unknown (you find it hard to on-sight routes), fear of failure etc. The mental side of rock climbing is commonly overlooked and you can make some serious gains in your abilities if you address these issues. If you’ve noticed that you get anxious after passing a bolt then you need to work on this. Mastering fear is an extremely liberating experience; everything becomes much more enjoyable (you can’t really enjoy climbing when you’re paralysed by fear). Learn to climb without worrying about where the next bolt is, where the next jug is etc. Get in touch and we can work together to break down these barriers. Your climbing will improve dramatically and you’ll develop a new found love and enjoyment for movement.
